The mine in Kållered was already opened in 1939 and is today operated by Swerock AB. Over the years, Täkten has supplied rock material to the construction industry and today has a delivery area for railway ballast covering the whole of western Götaland and Halland. In total, close to 1 million tonnes of ballast is delivered annually.

In order to break the raw material into the finished rock material that is carried out in the quarry, blasting work needs to be carried out, which usually takes place at least once a week. The vibrations that arise from blasting began to be measured as early as 1958, then under the auspices of Chalmers University of Technology. In 1965, Nitro Nobel took over the measurements and since the founding of the independent company, Nitro Consult AB in 1969, they have been managed by Nitro Consult.

Over the years, Nitro Consult has always had at least three meters in place that measured vibration and air shock waves according to the Swedish Standard, to ensure that the restrictions from the environmental court are not exceeded. All blasts carried out since 1975 have been registered by Nitro Consult, where measurement has been carried out on different occasions in nearly 60 points.

In addition to measurements, Nitro Consult has also been involved in the preparation of risk analyzes for environmental impact assessments and permit reviews, attended environmental court hearings and prepared explosive technical memos. Test explosions and damage investigations have also been carried out. In total, over 50 reports on the subject have been written by Nitro Consult.

Kållered Bergtäkt is also one of several quarries that Nitro Consult works with. Other similar quarrying assignments at Swerock where Nitro Consult provides its blasting experience include the quarrying in Hästeryd and Arendal.
